Virtual Vino 2010

Official Blogger James Rodwald's VIno 2010 Wrap-Up

What do I take away from Vino2010 after a few days of digesting the event? A lot of great wine, of course, the chance to meet several amazingly smart and interesting people, and, of course, even more questions. One thing is clear, this is a moment of great opportunity for winemakers and wine lovers to connect. I found out today that my decidedly un-fancy local supermarket, C-Town, is using social media to communicate with its customers—anyone with a product to sell ignores this at its own peril.

Official Blogger James Rodewald loved many wines at the Grand Tasting; had no time to fall in love

The Vino 2010 Grand Tasting was indeed grand in both senses of the word: there was some mighty fine wine, and there was lots of it. I don’t think I even walked through every room, and I know I didn’t taste a fraction of the offerings.

A very important man for Italian wine, and a very important blogger for Vino 2010!

These Italian winemakers (and many like them) sure know how to market their wines! Buona fortuna a tutti!

Official Blogger James Rodewald uploads his thoughts on the Virtual Vino Seminar

Of the many interesting things said at the Vino2010 Virtual Vino panel on social media and its role in reaching wine-lovers, it seems that the stickiest topic will be “transparency.” It came up early on when Fred Plotkin asked Steve Raye about “authenticity.” Steve’s response was that he preferred the word “honesty.” For the next hour or so, there was a fair amount of dancing around the question of whom to trust.
